4.2 Rear disc brakes
Anyway, I tried to get Audi to replace under warrenty, but they didn't feel the pulsing. Whatever. It's there and it's annoying. After a lenthy chat with the Service Technician, he "admits" the Audi rotors often need to be replaced after 15,000 miles and suggest I go with a heavier rotor (the 4.2 already has a beefier rotor). He also says that the "break in" that I mentioned has no effect.
One more thing on the break in technique - if one is to try this, just where do you find the space to do multiple 60-5 heavy stops???
At this point, with 8-9,000 miles on these rotors, should I try to have them turned? Should I try the break-in technique at this point?
Finally, why the rear and not the fronts? Is it just me (and,no, I'm not leaving the parking brake on).
Any suggestion on techniques, rotors, brake pads or other is appreciated.
You might give a call to Dave Zeckhausen at Zeckhausen Racing about brakes. He will give you all the information you need.

Dave

Audi dosent want you to know it, but they made a mistake when designing the brakes for the 6 series by making them too small.. this is what causes most of the overheating/sticking/warping we see. They rectified this in the new 6 series by putting substantially beefier brakes on them...
