Those with BBK's..wheel offset question...
I'm looking to have cutom rims made, and haven't figured out the offset I'm going to need.
B.D. sent me some great info on measuring your existing rims to see if the StopTech setup will fit an existing rim. But it hasn't helped me to figure out the offset on a rim I don't have yet.
Any other ways to go about this?
If you look at the Stoptech chart (I know it says S4, but the same chart is shared with the 2.7T), it looks like you need at least 45.1mm PLUS the 2mm extra clearance they suggest from the mounting surface of the hub. They also have the countour of the caliper (355mm BBK setup) in that chart, so according to the chart, this 45.1mm+2mm clearance must be maintained for at least a radius of 172.5mm to clear the outermost edge of the caliper.
So, whatever offset wheel you choose, make sure the spokes maintain a distance of at least the 47.1mm from the mounting surface for at least 172.5mm radius.
Make sense to you???
