How to select a brake pad and where? 01 A6 2.7T Quattro
Which brand should I look for and which site is the best to buy them from. TIA
I was looking at front and rear BREMBO drilled and slotted rotors. I figured since I was going to replace the rotors might as well get some nice ones that will "displace the heat faster". Basically I just want to be able to stop and the stock rotors and pads do that really well so I can only imagine what will happen after the "aftermarket" ones.
For brake pads, I have yet to decide yet...
I did notice that there are two different sensors available for the brake pads. A square or a circle, I am going to pull a wheel off and actually take a look as to what I have. I would like a long lasting high performance brake pad, so if you get some before me let me know as to what ones you are getting and how they are.
Also I was going to replace the brake fluid, I do not know when the last time it was replaced and it needs to be done every two years regardless of the usage, (due to moisture).
Pads should be matched carefully with your particular application to make sure you get the best braking possible.
OE pads are good street pads. They provide good bite for around town, and certainly will stop well in a panic stop. They however don't tolerate elevated temps well, like you'd see on a track. They are also very heavy dusting.
Find pads that suite what you're looking for with respect to:
noise, dust, bite, temps, rotor wear, pad wear, and cost.
Rank those which are most important to you and find some vendors who have something that fit what you're looking for.
OEM pads come from ATE, Pagid, Textar, and Jurid.
Aftermarket pads like Mintex, PBR, Axxis, Carbotech, Pagid, and Ferodo are just a few to consider.
Hope that helps!
I've purchased Brembo rotors and S4 brake pads with no issues at all.

I have no connection to these guys.

As others have stated, depends on what you want. Track/no-track, low-dust, low cost, etc. Give us some specifics and priorities and you'll have lots of recommendations.
