Chips - GIAC vs. APR and Stratmosphere

So I see that most of the respondants on this forum are running the GIAC. Through the research that I have done, it seems that the APR chip is the best bang for the buck,(you get a little more torque in the APR chip than the GIAC for a few dollars more). Am I missing something? Is there more to a chip than just the HP and Torque?

FWIH, the GIAC is smoother at bringing on the boost.

I was under the impression that GIAC-X was more powerful, but APR was smoother.

Try a search...You'll probably find that REVO has been called the smoothest...

I've heard APR is a nice gentlemanly slap to the face whereas GIAC is a...

Chuck Norris roundhouse kick to the head w/a combat boot.

I know someone w/ an APR and he said it's more 'drivable' then GIAC. I'm guessing it's becasue the boost is not as sudden. It's a damn quick car though!

Yes, there is more than just hp and tq...

How the power is delivered, where in the rpm range, etc. Remember also, that when chipping the K03s will be operating much closer to their limits. More hp and tq = higher potential for costly repairs. Make sure that you upgrade the Throttle Body Boot and Diverter Valves when you chip. IMO, these are not "optional" upgrades. Re which chip, I've used both the O.CT and the GIAC "S" chip. Both are 1 bar chip that were comparable in performance and power delivery. Both have stock-like power delivery, just lots more of it. The newer GIAC "X" chip and APR chips will boost to 1.1-1.2 bar, thus increasing hp and tq a bit more. I have no personal experience with either, but it is my understanding that power comes on harder and less linear than the 1 bar chips. When making your decision, think about what type of power delivery you want and how much you want to push your turbos.

Finally, I strongly recommend that you consider the support you'll recieve from the chip manufacturer and the shop you work with. If you run into problems, and this happens more often than you'd think, you'll need people you can rely on. In my experience, Stratmosphere - O.CT and Jeff Moss, Torque Factory - GIAC are both excellent.

REVO is sooo smooth... Stage 1 here and Loving It

I have had REVO FLASH STAGE ! SINCE October 05 and love it. It is so smooth, no choking, completely linear and a monster. I do believe it is more than 1 bar however as boost climbs to 19psi if you really get into it hard. Otherwise regular spirited driving is around 14 psi. I made my car a monster and the best part is the SPS switch you can get to turn it off and return to stock programming.

I have heard a lot of good things about GIAC, howeve3r I also read about a lot of bugs and fixes needed with other chips. The REVO software has worked flawless since day one.
