Questions:
1. I've had the car since the 14th. At no time did the Check Engine light come on - until the TB/Pump servicing & oil change was done - any relation? We did do an extended trip ( about 2.5 hours @ 80MPH + )& I understand sensors aren't a lifetime component & do fail.
2. Is this price bananas? I'm out of my league on the mechanics, so DIY ain't an option.
3. This is a VW dealership (Middletown VW/Mazda)with certified Audi techs, but my wife was recently to Jack Daniels Porsche/Audi in New Jersey to have a valet key cut/coded and was impressed.....any history in dealing with them somebody can relay?
4. Has anyone submitted this sort of thing to a 3rd party Service Warranty? I bought the car at a regular used car dealership & it came with a 6 month warranty from AutoSource.
Thanks!!
Also, as a former owner of a 2000 2.7T (driven until it had 99K miles), do yourself a favor and BUY A FULL, ZERO-DEDUCTIBLE extended warranty. Whatever it costs will be WAY less than you'll run up in replacements/repairs over the next few years.
I know whereof I speak.
FYI, the check engine light didn't come on immediately upon leaving the dealer because I believe the ECU needs to see a persistent failure (~50 miles) before declaring a fault.
Suggest you visit dealer again, with a 0.40 caliber - Smithfield Armory makes a nice alternative to the Glock if money is tight.
