HELP!.... Replaced Headlight Assembly, but now getting the Headlight Malfunction Indictation on dash
I think the auto-leveler is not working in the headlight, because they don't seem to move when I start the car. The light works fine, from what I can tell, and I believe I adjusted it to the proper level (although I am going to check that out a little better in a day or two when I have a little more time and a better location to do so)...
The only thing I notice is that when you look at the light from head-on at a certain angle (like right above where the beam would be) it kind of glimmers.
So is the headlight indicator anything to really worry about? I want to clear it, but at this point I also can't afford dropping a ton of money on diagnosis and "repair". I'm worried that I'll take it to Audi and if it's just a little problem, they will just hook up the VAG-COM, fix the problem, and charge me an hour's worth of labor for the fix...
If it's a bigger problem, then I will have to take care of it, but I figured I'd ask you guys first, and maybe spare the headache and costs associated with going to Audi... Thanks!
Even after fixing the arm, I still had the light on the dash. I posted that on the A8 board and someone emailed me the adaption procedure from Elsa. Using that, I was able to figure it out enough using vag-com and that did the trick.
I might be able to dig it up if you email me....
Bob
