Intermittent cruise control

Can't figure this one out either; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it works for a while and then stops right in the middle of a cruise. Any ideas for something to try that might fix it quick?

Search for this issue, A very common thing. Your cruise control module needs replacing

What level of PITA would replacing this myself be?

2-3 out of 10. took me 30 minutes, including the freeway test drive

Had this myself...

Replaced the switch (turn sig and highbeams) with ebay used ($50)... Now all is well.

Do you have any other problems with the cruise? My tranny goes haywire when I turn it on

The highlighted "D" in drive goes out (looks like it's not in drive), the engine rpm changes and it feels like the transmission shudders. I think mine is more than the switch.
Anybody else have an issue like that? When I turn it off, everything is fine.
