had my thermostat replaced yesterday...
after the car started overheating on the way to work Friday. luckily it didn't pop until about a mile from the parking garage and state farm covered the tow to the stealer. i have a mechanic buddy that did the work at the stealer on his own time, so I only paid $250. not too bad.
for future reference, symptoms were as follows:
while driving on the freeway, the AC started to blow swamp air instead of cool dry air. half mile later after my exit, my temp gauge crept to hot and as I was pulling into the parking garage, my temp warning light went on.
after the car cooled for a few hours, I thought I'd try to drive it to the stealer, about 5 miles. got about a mile, when the tstat should have opened, and it started overheating again. parked and had it towed.

I believe it. you have to take all the same parts as changing the timing belt off
if you do it by the books. he knows a couple tricks and does work for me on the side but with all the dealer tools.
