CEL after warming up car in MN... Ideas?

CEL after warming up car in MN... Ideas?

Hey everyone, Thanks in advance for the help -

I live in Minneapolis and was warming up my car (03 A6Q 2.7T Tip) today. When I went out to the car it had a beautiful present for me: a flashing CEL! In addition, there was a new thumping at about 3-4 beats per second. It was about 10 deg F at the time.

Here was my exact sequence of events today:

-Moved car from garage to driveway, ran for about five min, shut down.
-About 2 hrs later, started car again, idled for about 20 min...went to leave and found the CEL and thumping.

Any ideas what this is... and do you think I will hurt this by driving it?

flashing CEL means don't drive. you need VAG COM to know what's wrong

that said, my only flashing CEL episode happened about a month ago in the 2.8 - turned out to be multiple cylinder misfire after the wife flooded it trying to start.

Anyone have a VAG COM in Twin Cities want to help?

I live in SW Minneapolis / Edina near 50th St and France Ave.

Dang - I'm driving right by there tonight but I don't have my VAG with me -

Join up on MNAudi.com and you'll have a better local base to work from; or check in the regional forum. Sounds like a bad coil pack to me as well. Hope you get it worked out!
