Default I finally got the Audi phone to work.

It was the connection with the cradle. I noticed that the battery doesn't always recharge when in the cradle. Then I fussed with it and it seems to work more consistently.
I can't say that I'm very impressed with the setup. I can see why people like Potsie were complaining. Personally, I'd prefer to have a standard phone mount on the side of the dash. The voice activated system is cumbersome. The OnStar woman often hangs up on me, saying "goodbye" if there is any outside noise. It would be great if you could use the voice activated system within the V60 instead. I would love it if Audi retrofitted a Bluetooth phone for the 04's.
As an aside, there is a V60 with Audi software on sale on ebay. It's been for sale numerous times without any bites. I was hesitant to get it - I like the idea of Motorola/Verizon support if there is a problem. Also, my phone is a V60i with Audi logos on the outside and inside. The ebay phone is a V60c without the logos. I wonder if the person somehow downloaded the software into a regular phone.

Default There will be (are ?) new versions of the V60 out...

...with color screen, updated software, and a version with walkie-talkie feature. Should be exactly the same shape, so possibly compatible with any original V60 set up? If they haven't been released yet, they soon will be.

Default Problem is...

Any v60 Motorola phone will "fit" in the cradle. The only problem is that the cradle will only charge these phones, and that is it. Only the special v60 from Audi has the appropriate software to "integrate" with the MMI and allow voice dialing, speakerphone, etc.

Shameful, Audi...

Default I think that I've concluded that the phone isn't worth the hassle.

The connection to the cradle is shotty, at best. I always have to test the phone to ensure that it, not the OnStar phone, is being used. My wife called me 4 times this morning and it never rang. She naturally wondered with whom I was speaking during that time. The OnStar woman has hearing difficulties a good portion of the time, causing me to redial or cancel. For now, I'll hold the line, but I may ask for a refund. I do like the look of the Audi logo on the phone, though.

Default Re: Problem is...we were offered the "fire sale V.60's" that Audi had overstocked!

what a shame they didn't go Bluetooth in the launch editions and dump the V.60 for the '04

Default Private label Cell phone market is a rip-off (Venting)

Outrageous prices
Poor software implementations and integration
Lack of choices of manufacturers and carriers.
Always a generation behind current technology,( no GSM phones available)
Motorola's dumping ground, almost always an end of life Motorola product.

Had to get that off my chest
