Default V1 vs. Escort SR7/SRX Radar Detectors: Seems like many have gone to great lengths and

expense to achieve a stealth installation with the V1. The SR7/SRX are "out of the box" stealth installations, with all parts supplied and no hassle. Dealer or competent 3rd party installation req'd. Sensors mounted behind grille, and display is small LEDs on dash, speaker available. SRX is same as SR7, with laser shifter added. Installed cost is $1000 and $1500, respectively. Not cheap, but good performance, stealth, and ready to go. Tests show SR7/SRX a close 2nd to V1, with better laser detection. If goal is stealth and more than adequate performance, why not go with the SR7/SRX? What benefit is a few more feet of detection distance with the V1? Any comments from SR7/SRX owners, or those familiar with them? See escortradar.com.

The most tangible V1 benefit is directional indicators

Default I use an SRX and it's great...

Love the stealthiness of it, fits right in my ashtray, and the programming is much improved over even the Escort 7500 series in terms of usability (lo-x sensitivity mode for city driving, ability to shut down individual bands, auto-dimming display, etc.)

Mounting any laser shifter is a chore if you want to do it right, however, as you need to keep in mind that the laser beam is perhaps 18" wide when you are being clocked (on average, so you need to position the front unit(s) between your high beams and your license plate to get best coverage.
