warranty question and 70K service , etc!
i dont have access to the car and information right now.... but the A8 (1998) is at 67k miles now and i need to prepare myself for the 70k mile maintence service.... big money! arrg, i also need a new set of tires.
- does the 70k service include replacing the timing belt/water pump? what consists of 70k service?
- what kind of price am i looking at for the 70k service?
- do they give me complimentary rental if it's not a one-day service?
i think i am gonna take it to HBL in Northern VA...
also, does my '98 A8 have a 7-yr new car warranty or a 5 year one?
thanks.
when you can afford an A8 money is not a problem
you only had 4 years or 50k miles warranty
70k miles service is just an oil change
60k is the big service
water pump you should change it at this point for both time and mileage
tires is your easiest problem, don't drive
if you were in los angeles i can do all the work for you i have my own audi independent shop
Let's see, I would imagine you'd need:
1. Oil and filter change ($85)
2. Air filter change if not performed in last 30K miles ($50)
3. ?????
The timing belt, water pump, belts, etc don't have to be changed until 85-90K miles. However, you have a 98, so I would consider getting it done next spring/summer if you are not going to put the miles on it due to age.
If you haven't got the transmission filter and fluid changed, get that done <a href="http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/auto_transmission/autotranservicing.html">you can read about it here</a>.
The only other thing that I can think of is new plugs which would probably be $150 for parts and 2-3 hours labor ($250).
What did the dealer quote??
