2000 A8 staggered wheels
Hello
Has anyone on th elist ever put 18 or 19" staggered wheels on. I am thinking of 8" et37 front and 9" et37 rear. I was told that some people look upon wider rears as a no no on Audi? Any thoughts. In case it matters these are for my winters.

Will these be winter only wheels?
Or will you also use them with summer tires? What winter tires did you have in mind, staggered or the same size?
Like a8drifter, I question the use of a staggered winter only setup (wheel only or wheel/tire).

Winter only, was going to use the 245/45/18 Pirelli 210 or 240 wintersport. Although i think the 245 is a little narrow for a 9" wheel? I was only thinking of the staggered thought as i think it looks a little nicer than 8's all around. I will put 20's on for the summer.

A simpler solution ...
I agree that an 8" wheel width is better for the 245/45-18. I suggest that if you want to widen the rear track slightly, use the same 8" wheels front and back (ET 35 or 37), and use perhaps 10mm spacers in the rear. The A8's track is 1591mm front and 1580mm rear, or 11mm wider in the front. The two 10mm spacers would make your car 9mm wider in the rear.
The advantage is that you get the look you want and still have the ability to rotate wheels/tires front-to-rear. The only "disadvantage" is that the slightly wider rear track relative to the front will very very slightly increase understeer, but you could argue that this is actually better (i.e., safer) on snow. Just remember that the rear bolts will also be 10mm longer, and these must stay in the rear with the spacers.
