viscous fan clutch - 100K miles and can stop with pencil
I guess I don't understand that pencil test. Istn't the fan *supposed* to stop turning at highway speeds? The force of the air blowing through it is supposed to be enough to stop it?
What should happen if I stick a pencil in a fan with a healthy clutch?
As I see it, as long as the fan is turning at idle, it's pulling air through the radiator, right?
Despite something like an hour and a half spent creeping through a traffic jam this summer at 98F, it didn't overheat. So, I'm not sure if this is really bad and should be replaced, or not.
Just my 2C
