OK...transmission rebuilt
2000 A8L shifting smoothly = priceless
However still have 2 problems that are driving me crazy. Both are warning lights in the instrument cluster.
1)"brake pads worn" light
Pads and rotors replaced 2000 miles ago, however the pad worn sensor plug on the new front pads was not the same...my mechanic spliced them together and heat shrank them and all worked fine for about 1800 miles now comes on every time I start the car.
2)"headlight/tail lights malfuntion switch" comes on intermittently whether I turn the lights on or not, once on stays on. Checked all bulbs and cannot find a bad one. The trans shop ran Vag Com and said a code came on that indicate to him that I may have tried to adjust the headlamps (which I have not) He cleared the code and when I picked up the car it was off but now after under 100 miles has started again.
Any ideas? It is more an annoyance than anything else but I would really like to have the car "right"
