Cig lighter flashlight

Cig lighter flashlight
I bought a VW torch for the cig lighter in the back seat area, but it does not fet snuggly as in the VW Phaeton. Do I need to put a VW socket in the car? Also, the VW dealer said that the shiny black was the only color available...is that true?

It is my understanding that some Japanese and European auto makers use sizes that are not standard to most American made vehicles. I did one better, I made a new one using a 10 foot extension that I cut off the male end and connected it straight to my battery (with an inline fuse of course) and comes through my ski opening in the rear seats. When I am not using it I simply tuck it away in the rear arm rest storage box. This way I have power just about anywhere I want it in the car and use Y adapters for 2 connections etc… I also can move it back to the trunk to power my portable cooler when on road trips etc… I love this solution! I solved the loose socket problem...just take an angled pick and reach down into the socket, get it behind one of the metal tabs of the grounding sleeve and bend it out a bit. I would still like to know if any finish other than shiny black is available.
