Default flange seals - transmission

I'll have my front axles out and wondering if I should change the seals while I'm right there. They're not leaking now...

I was able to do the rears w/o removing the axle. Do you think that will work for the fronts too ? If so, I'll leave them alone. I haven't seen many posts about these as compared to the prop shaft and rear diff leaks so maybe it's not an issue.

But then again I don't have a pit and my axles out right now!

Becareful in New Haven now, Schulz just got their radioactive material license, soon to be decontaminating motors 200' from I-91!!!

Great, I guess I have bigger problems to worry about then my axles huh ?

It's a tough call. If they start leaking in a couple of weeks, I'll kick myself. Doesn't seem to be as trouble prone as the other seals though so maybe I'll leave well enough alone.

Are you getting back to New Haven anytime soon ?

I was just in New Haven for another seminar and a quick day in and out a week or two before that....not for a while now.

Default pulled the axles off tonight. Just waiting for control arms and new ones to show up.

Output flange on the drivers side does not have a torx bit visible to remove it, pass side does. Either way, they both look bone dry so I'm leaving them alone.

Bob

Does anyone need any pics while I have the axles and arms removed ?

Default The driver's side does not have it. It's a long shaft goes trough the tranny to the front diff......

on the passenger's side.

So, if they leak, you have to drop the tranny and open it up to fix ?

No, it slides out if you move the axle out of the way.
