Log post from 2002 Thanks Paul
Latest findings by way of Vag-Com logs points to poor electrical signals across multiple systems. At least that is what is seen when Group 7 , Group 9 and Group 2 are logged together. A very erratic and correlated data stream from the N218, the TPI G69 and now I see the Engine RPM G28 . I keep telling myself "I just don't drive this way". Now since the TPI indication of "closed throttle" is associated with changing N218 states. (Yes, I know, open throttle does this too) and I see some rather spurious throttle closing data while logging in "steady state driving", things are coming together.
Closed throttle indication from pin 3 of the TPI G69 is a decrease voltage signal to the ECU to pin A24 of the ECU. Decreased signal can be due to loss of the 5V power supply, OR an increased resistance or "Open" from the TPI to the ECU. Both possibilities result the same.
So, If I am to trust the VAG-Com, and I must, for the N218 proves behavior consistant with signal change, next step is to "tap" the 5 Volt suppy to see if it is an intermittant from the source or signal.
The pursuit continues.
