FYI - i think i see the light at the end of the tunnel (with my ongoing saga)

So i found a new shop in Ephrata PA called Auto Diagnostics and we are 95% certain that we have acertained the cause of my rough idle and potentially my harmonic hum at 2K rpms. Anthony at AD told me that my TB was infact replaced but the timing is OFF on bank 2...where all my problems are. He said that i am down about 30% on compression on bank 2. the only issue he still sees is that compression is not equal across bank 2. cyl. 5 & 8 are lower than 6 & 7 (55psi vs 60psi...bank 1 is all 75psi...RUNNING COMPRESSION test btw). ANyway, im getting the TB done, Water pump, tensioner pulley (belt was loose when he checked it) and relay rollers. He also found that i have a bad bearing in my fan clutch...getting that replaced too. Anway, i will report back with more exact info as i get it...but i wanted to keep everyone up to date on my saga to rid my A8 of its rough idle and strange vibration at 2K rpm (in 4th @ 60mph, 5TH @ 72mph)

at this point I would have the head gaskets done as well ....

they are not hard to do and shouldn't be that much $$$$. Very common to have small leaks and compression loss with them. Mine were done at 75k on my 98 A8. I had a small coolant on my left side. IMO, worth doing since all the other work is being done.
