Houston, we have a problem. Need help quick!
I was driving home this afternoon, & was about a block away from the house when my battery light & brake light came on in my instrument panel. Then I noticed that I had no power steering. I thought the car had died, so I pressed the accelerator, & the car was still running. I pulled into my garage, popped the hood & saw that my serpentine belt was not on my PS pump's pulley.
Now I thought either the belt somehow slipped off, broke, or my serp belt tensioner went south on me. I put my lock carrier into service position, as if doing the T-belt service. Next, I inspected the belt--no problems or damage--so I replaced it over all of the pulleys. Naturally, it was time to test the tensioner. It was fine also, but I noticed that my PS pump tilted forward when tension was applied.
I inspected the area surrounding the PS pump, & found a crack in one of the brackets. I don't know if I need to replace the entire PS pump assembly, or if I can just buy the bracket alone. So, if anyone knows, please help a brother out. I'll post a pic ASAP. TIA as always!!!

Interesting
Well there's the pump, then there's a bracket that mounts the pump to the engine. Whichever one it is, I would consider checking the condition of the tensioner and the PS pump to make sure there wasn't some other problem that caused the crack. That's kinda weird.

Look carefully to confirm, but I believe that you just need the bracket . . .
the pump gets bolted into the bracket, IIRC.
You should have the ability to easily see where the pump bolts into the bracket--just look carefully to make sure the pump casting itself did not break.
I recall that the Bentley Manua has a very good exploded view of the pump assembly and associated parts.
I remain at work without the ability to consult my Bentley Manual.

Oh sure. You don't post in over a week having everyone worried sick and just pop in expecting help?
Well, I hope this helps... ;-)

Yup, looks like just the bracket.

Yea
