A few turbo-related questions
I was looking thru the Road & Track website and found a question related to the 1.8T engine in the A4. I've include the link below, and my questions are based on reading R&T's reply.<p>From the explanation given, I assume oil coking (sp?) shouldn't be a problem on the TT (since the engine is similar). This also implies that idling the engine for a minute or two is not required if one is not driving the car very hard. Is this true? <p>Also, if the turbo isn't oil cooled, what are the advantages of going to synthetic oil FOR A TURBO CAR? (This isn't intended to start a dino vs. synthetic war... Interesting. The 5 cylinder turbo engines from around 1986 on did have watercooled bearings with a separate water pump. I'm pretty certain the 1.8l engines do not do this. Of course, I would love to be proven otherwise!<p>-steve<br>
