Is this necessary when you chip your car - a mechanic told me the way the stock oil line is routed from the engine to the turbo can result in something he called "cooked oil" which can total screw the turbocharger... is he right?

it was updated in 98 to better shield the oil line from the heat from the turbo. And yes, if you do not properly cool down your turbo after spirited driving the oil will coke in the lines and eventually clog them starving the turbo of oil. So in short, I'd get the updated heatshielding and a turbo timer.

added the heat shield and moved to synthetic, never bothered with the line and it has behaved itself. For the record the heat shield was a 10 min job, the line looked like a pain.
