Default Re: TT advice

Just received a complete set of all the Zymol products people have recommended including the special wheel cleaner. Plan to go over the whole car this weekend, will let you know how these products perform. Other people have recommended Maguires (sp.) .

Default Simple Green is as good as any wheelcleaner product (more on Zymol)

I use it on my BMW and I love it. It does not last as long as other waxes but leaves your car "soft". That's the only way I can describe it. It also smells like a Pina Colada instead of a chemical. Put it on very thin and don't let it dry. Just keep wiping until you get a shine. Doing one patch at a time. After you have done the whole car it is not a bad idea to go back over it one more time lightly. There is always a few spots not quite buffed out. It will last longer if you use very little soap when washing and just water is ok if there is only light dust. I have used simple green on my wheels for year and it is a cheaper, mild cleanser that won't damage the wheels. Zymol is good but you don't need to spend the money. Oh yeah, put a coat of wax on the wheels (I used cheap paste wax because I thought it would last longer than Zymol). It makes cleaning them a breeze. Whew. Thanks so much for the tip on waxing the wheels. Make sense to put a protective coat on them as well. Den

Default Simple Green Caution?

If I remember correctly, some posts awhile back recommended against using Simple Green due to it's corrosive tendencies over time. Just an FYI.

Default WASHING & WAXING

re Wheel cleaner :I was gonna rag on simple green & found out the Junk in the garage was a Westleys simple green wannabe, I will try simple green,
BTW the wheel cleaner that VW /AUDI sells actualy works the best. And I would use it exclusively but dealers are too far away (until august)
Cheap wax on wheels makes sense BUT...
I like zaino bros, it has been espoused by others on the board as well as myself. It looks & protects the whole car, is incredibly EASY to use. ANd it is as easy to use on the wheels also. why buy extra crap? http://www.zainobros.com/
You just dropped 36000 inc tax , spring for the 20 bucks for the zaino's lok Z1 & polish z2. Consider yourself informed. I like Brad's california duster for the wheels suggestion too.
In betweens Washings Meguiars #34 final inspection
For life's little mistakes & scratches & Bird **** that burns clear coat please use:
ULTRAFINISH 1800 666 8587
Meguiars Gold Class Clear coat prep
Wah the car with A good car wash soap -BLUE CORAL makes one that does not leave water spots (NO NOT DAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is used to strip wax etc)
Other tricks & tips from Zaino Bros I find correct:
I find that 100 percent cotton BATH MATS absorb more water that regular towels.
I can wash & wax the car in under 20 min (no idle boast)
Zaino Bros' recommends using only Large Bath size 100% Made in
USA White Cotton towels with all of our products. Cotton T-shirts are
too small for polish removal and not as absorbent or fluffy as towels
and most contain polyester. We have found that certain towels;
especially those manufactured abroad, although they say 100% cotton.
They are not; they include a blend of polyester and nylon that will
definitely scratch and leave swirl marks in your paint finish. The rule of
thumb is to use high quality Brand Name large bath towels (Cannon or
Fieldcrest) that say 100% cotton and made in the USA. Towels sold in
bags in Auto Stores are not 100% cotton. Look carefully on the bag it
will probably say made in Pakistan or Bangladesh or other foreign
country. Do not use these towels. They will cause swirl marks and
scratches on the paint surface. Always, remove the stitching around
the towel prior to use. Bargain store polish applicators also contain
polyester and nylon fibers and are not to be used. Also, when washing
your towels, please do not use any type of fabric softeners. Always use
White towels. Do not use Colored Towels they contain dyes.

ZAINO BBRO
