Default window problems anyone?

I just picked up my TTQ. I am puzzled by the trick windows. I understand why they snick down when the door is opened, but wonder if it is good engineering.
What happens if the car gets wet and it freezes?
Is this function controlled by a separate motor or by the regular electric window lifts?
Does this create unusual wear and tear on the parts?
Finally, since these cars are destined to be classics, how many of them will have working window lifts 25 years from now?

Default I wont comment on the TT part (since I dont have mine yet)...

...but I know that this style of window has been used for around 10 years by BMW (first on the 8 series, then on the M3 and is coupes) and more recently by Porsche on the Boxster. I don't recall anyone having freezing probs or unusual wear and tear on the beemers...including my brother's M3's over 5 years or so.

I don't have any data on whether the original 8's that it came on are still functioning as expected.

Default Electric motors are as trouble free as any motors made, only time will tell but I don't think the

window motors will be a problem. JIM
