Default TT Tires

My dealer suggested the option of replacing
the potenza tires before delivery - I had mentioned the car would not be driving in snow
but wanted something both performance oriented
but wet weather competent (it's for a roadster).

Suggestions?

thanks

Potenza S02 are OK ! ; Michelin Pilot Sport (the best), Pirelli P0; absolutely no Dunlops !!!

You mean, Dunlops win tests, but really don't deserve it? ;-))

Default My experience : very poor steering feeling, and they don't last a long time.

Had this brand on my A8 and on my old 5000S.
When I changed them for Michelin I did not recognize the car.
But Dunlops are cheaper, so you find them very often on Audis.
And if you look ate their edges : they look used even when new. Their edges are too round which explains the poor steering precision.
Really don't understand why they do that !

Default You really can't group tires like that...

Every tire manufacturer has good and bad tires...or more appropriately...they have tires for different purposes and price ranges. I personally have had two decent Dunlop tires in the past....the Dunlop SP8000E and SP9000...these were both on my Audi A4. It sounds like you are saying that because you had some non-descript Dunlops on your previous cars..and you didn't like them...that you now say that Dunlop doesn't make decent tires? Am I reading your post correctly? I have had Pirelli P7000SS tires on my A4 as well...I personally didn't like them much...but then I don't go saying that all Pirelli tires are no good...I know the Pirelli PZeros are pretty good. I just wouldn't generalize like it appears that you have.

FWIW, I like Bridgestone SO-2 Pole Positions a lot...but I really don't like the RE040 tires that came on my S4. They are now in the garage...home for a mouse or two. The Pole Positions are great for dry and wet handling.

Default I have to agree with Steve...

The Dunlop SP 9000's my roommate had on his Corrado were *fabulous* tires, and even my plain-jane SP 4000 All Seasons are nice and grippy wet and dry with my beemer...and no lack of steering feel over the 50k miles so far. If I wanted to generalize, I'd say all Michelins were crap...based solely on my awful Ecosquealers that came on the BMW and the super-noisy Pilots that were OEM on my brother's M3. I know that isn't the truth, and hate to see Dunlop slammed based on a similar sampling.
