Anyone have 235 40s on 18" rims ?

I do! Pirelli P7000 Supersport 235/40-18 on OZ Volcano wheels (more)
At first, I wanted 225/45-17, but the wheels looked as if they were 15inches instead of 17"? So my tuner proposed to try the same model in 18". So he ordered some; now the look is wonderful, and to my surprise, the ride is still comfortable (and believe me in Quebec, highway look more like a mine field than a road...).
Even without the H&R coils, the car is glue to the road, reaction is like a go-kart! The other night I took a curve a "LOT LOT" faster than I used to... stayed on track, no under or oversteer. But remember, if you push to much, be ready to react "very" fast!
To resume, very please with the handling and confort.

Lower profile doesn't seems to produce more road noise (more)
The tread of the tire and compound are the elements that change the noise. If you go to tirerack.com, you will see some chart indicating the road noise, handling etc of different tires.
