Default How do people like their roof racks?

Looked at the Audi roof rack today and it seems close to a permanent fixture. Especially with the bike mount on it. Anybody here have one?

Default Purchased one several weeks ago. Definitely a quality product and very easy to install and remove.

I was very pleased with how solidly built it is and love that it comes with integrated locks. Having fought with the typical designs on my A4 this is a piece of cake to install. Not much chance of scratching the car just put it in place and screw it down. Evan comes with a torque wrench so that it is not over tightened. The question remains as to how my kayak will do on it.

It sure looked sturdy. Have you seen the bike holder? (Not the one where you take your front wheel off.) Looks like it'd rattle when you didn't have a bike on it, and wouldn't be easy to take off.

How often are you planning to install/remove it?

Default What's the rack's capacity? Attachments?

The local dealer doesn't have any information at all about the rack. I'd like to get one, but have the same question about my kayak. Not to mention the bikes, skis, picnic table.... (maybe not the table).

How much weight will the rack support? Does it take any of the standard Thule/Yakima attachments, or is it all specific to the rack? And how easy is it to get one now? I'm amazed that the local dealer knows so little about them (beyond "not yet available here.").

Don't know about Thule/Yakima, but the bike rack attachment was standard Audi, not specific to the TT.

Default Ordered it on a Wednesday picked it up on a Friday, standard for dealer parts here..

The rack does have a slot on top that will accommodate a rubber molding in a track. This is designed to protect what you may be putting on it when no attachments are required. Otherwise the molding is slid out and the slot will accommodate metal bolts that have heads which fit in the slot, the threads face up to allow the attachments to be bolted down.
I did not purchase any add on parts yet, will just take some pipe insulation and put it on the cross members to protect the kayak, then use some tie downs. The Thule attachments will not work, bolt pattern too narrow.
