gas gauge...I need a fix

This is my first post, so please bear with me. My 180 TTQ is demonstrating the random fluctuations mentioned in several posts from the archives. I know that many people had the problem fix itself, and I know that many had the cluster replaced. Since the problem only affects the gas gauge (and miles to empty), I'm not convinced it's the entire cluster. Has anyone had the sending unit(s) replaced and has this solved the problem? I noticed a tech bulletin for the A6 sending units, so maybe this is common. Thanks for any help. -Jeff

Mine did it only during delivery (was everywhere between full and 1/4). My guess: loose ground wire.

I have exactly the same problem.It just appeared.I have about 3,900 miles on the car.Unless something else turns up as a problem, I will wait until the 5,000 mile service to get fixed.

I'm having the same problem and I have my 5000 mile service scheduled for tomorrow. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I had both of my sending units replaced...

after 5 months of waiting. Yes it did finally fix the problem and it works!!

Thanks for your replies, I have 2500 miles and was going to wait for the 5k service, but I am concerned about the parts delay. Derek and Steve, let me know how your service goes and I'll do the same. -Jeff
