I used those vampire thingys you told me about to tap into one of the fuse 8 wires. It worked pretty cleanly, coming in with from behind the fuse box after removing the lower dash cover. I unscrewed the fuse box to make it easier to work with. Identifying the #8 fuse from behind was easy, too. What I didn't know was how to tap into the line itself, so your suggestion about the vampire tap was an essential piece of information.
I used the yellow-marked bolt as a ground, which I think you also identified as a good location to ground it.
The most incredible thing about the whole process is that I didn't screw up the whole electrical system. Thanks again for your help.
David

Then again, maybe I will keep troubleshooting the crappy picture from my cable and VCR! It's tough being "Gadget Guy!"

I've been tempted to tap into the overhead light and get my 12v from there, any comments on this approach?
