Felt fixes another rattle! (This time, it's the steering column)
Those of you who drive with the steering wheel titled all the way up may hear an occasional popping/crackling sound or even a rattle. This is because there is a small vinyl or leather flap that lines the area where the steering column enters the dashboard, and if the column is tilted all the way up, this flap rubs on the plastic of
the steering column.
The solution: go to a craft store (like Michael's), Home Depot, etc. and buy yourself some thin (1/8" or so) self-adhesive felt. Cover the top surface of the steering column with the felt. Noise gone!
Basically, anything that will stop the flap from rubbing directly on the plastic will work...
