Is it okay to put the suction cup of Escort 8500 on the windshield?
The Escort manual said the suction cup may cause damage to the anti-lacerative coated windshield. I have no idea what type of windshield my audi 2001 225 TTR has. Thanks.

"Anti-lacerative" coated windshield glass has a plastic layer laminated to the inside...
of the glass to help prevent cuts when your head or other body parts try to go through it during a serious collision. It's expensive and not used much.
FWIW: windshields are two layers of glass with a plastic layer between them. This helps keep the sharp pieces of broken glass from flying about; they stay pretty much attached to the plastic. Most side glass is "tempered" or hardened, so that it shatters into small, relatively dull-edged bits when broken. They go everywhere, but don't cut deeply. More than you wanted to know, huh?
