Default Check Engine Idiot light came on last night....

Was driving to a friends for dinner last night and the check engine light came on... freaked me out since I have never had that happen on any of my previous cars...

To make a long story short: checked the oil - 1/2qt low, coolant level correct, DV connections were tight. What else could cause this..... the engine sounds and feels perfectly normal. I've had a problem with a sticky Forge DV, buy I re-lubed it on Saturday with some hi-temp antiseize lubricant. The DV sounds like it is actuating properly.... Also, I added some 110 octane race gas on Sunday for our local drive. I only added 2.5 gallons mixed with 91.

One thing that I'm suspicious of is that the clowns at the dealer did not reset my service reminder to the 10K interval the last time there... for the past 5K, the service indicator has been lit every time I start the car.... could Audi have been that smart to throw in an additional service "warning" by lighting the check engine light???? (I just reached the 5k point since the service indicator started to come on)

The car has not stumbled or acted in any way abnormal.... was driving, looked down and saw the light was on....

Any one have any thoughts???? I'm scheduled for my 20K service next wednesday. should I wait till then??

TIA

Could be one of numerous reasons - unless you are in limp mode don't worry about it

Default It can be any one of many posibilities and it can only be diagnosed by checking the DTCs with a VAG.

Since you're not experiencing any drivability problems, it's probably something very simple like a broken sensor or a vacuum leak.

Default It is not the service light- it could any number of things, if the CEL is not blinking then it is

..safe to drive the car. You have some fault codes, of that there is no doubt. If you know someone with a VAG tool they can read them. Otherwise take the car to the dealer. JIM

Default Same proble here...

Fuel sending unit was leaking. Caused a vacuum problem. It may also be a loose gas cap.
