Creaky Coilover solution? ....
I'm not too knowledgable about coilovers, but just from listening to the creaking, it sounds like its from the contact point between the springs and the shocks (I can't think of anything else that'd creak). On that note, would it be possible to insert a small spacer, maybe 1/16" or 1/8" thick, made of a hard rubber or plastic, that will dampen some of the creaking? I swear i heard of somebody doing this....
opinions?
Man, its impossible to take 6 hours out of my day to drive back back and forth from berkeley during the week. its really too bad Terry isn't open weekends... I guess if I stay up there while he checks it out it won't take as long...
I'll email him.
Btw, Chris, what area you from?
Terry Griffin (www.g-werke.com) mentioned dthat he didn't like the PSS9s because even though it is great to have a "9-way adjustable" ride, as soon as you adjust anything its going to unbalance the coilover, and affect alignment - basically, you can't simply adjust one setting, you have to balance them all.
I hope I repeated what he told me correctly, but if you want his not-very-humble opinion, he recommends H&Rs over anyother coilover system. I put them in and they ride wonderfully, for street use and more aggressive use.
If you do install the coilovers, ask whoever is installing it about inserting some sort of rubber insert. if you tell them that TT coilovers are notorious for creaking in the rear (front doesnt creak) they might know what to do...
PS, A bunch of ppl have H&Rs, and PSS9s, so if you ask around ppl can send you pics so you can check out ride height. i'll get my pics up soon.
