Default V1 Hardwire questions

Hi,
I've asked some of this before (sorry) but the unit is now in my hands (after returning from San Jose this week). Was reading the instructions and it says not to mount it up behind the windsheilds with a tint?

My TTR has a tinted shield but when I used the other false V1 (previous saga) it worked ok. So...

1) Where's the best place to mount for hard wire in TTR?
2) Best place to put display? I did like the vent mount but won't be attempting this as I don't have the skill, knowledge or a dremel! So I'll probably opt for below the driver display about the steering wheel

TIA

Default mine is.....

the main unit is mounted with the suction cups about 2-3" up from the surface of the dash in the center of the windshield. The wiring runs along the groove at the intersection of the dash/windshield, around to the driver's side and into the dash from there. My remote is mounted directly beneath the driver's left side air vent. It's a convenient place for muting the darn thing during false alarms.

Default My approach with a Passport, in my roadster

I have a remote 'mute' switch that is under the ash tray.

I wired the DC into this remote switch back under the lower dash.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/340971.phtml">Passport Mount</a></li></ul>

Default soooo sorry, no digital camera, no interior pictures since the install :(

however, IMHO it's a very neat and clean looking installation. I'm used to the sounds of the V1 and know what type of radar is detected by the bleeps so I don't really need to look over at the remote very often... it's not all that convenient to see (not in peripheral vision when looking at the road) but it's also easy to disconnect and view the main unit on the windshield. My husband prefers the main unit display, I prefer the remote because of the mute button being real close.

Default My V1 hardwire in my coupe. Head unit hides behind rear view mirror, can't see from drivers seat.

boost guage.
