FWD Gearbox Grind...AOA wants to...
try a "thicker"synthetic. My 2nd gear grind has been getting worse. I demonstrated it to my service tech, spoke with AOA, and sent a couple of letters out to formally document (although my dealer & AOA assure me it is documented). I'm lobbying for a buy back but the feedback is thus far not good. I love everything else about the TT. No other problems, but it is totally unsat to have a "$40K" car with this problem, particularly when Audi must know of it. It grinds in the VW Golf. Why would they even consider putting it in a sports car?
Anyway, the gear oil is special, being imported as I write this. Waiting for that slow boat from whereever. Anybody have any thoughts about this or any experience with this AOA attempt to resolve?

As someone who's been down that road........
depending on how many miles you have on your car and the build date, gear oil will help a little but it will just worse. I had the same problem with my GTI. They went the gear oil (Redline) route and then replaced the syncros and second gear. It stopped for a little bit but it came back and got progressively worse. VW wound up buying my car back. However, many others have had the transmission replaced and the newer 2001 models have not had near as many problems. I'd push for a new tranny. Good luck.
