Winter Tire opinions please....
What tire would you get? Dunlop M2's or Blizzak LM-22's?
What size? 225/45-17 or 205/55-16?
I know that the 16's would probably work best if there was a lot of snow but I Iive in the Washington, DC area and as a rule we don't get all that much. So I was thinking to get the 17's and give up some going power for looks and dry handling.
Also, I don't want to get steel wheels for it but don't want to spend a lot either. Anyone got opinions on what may look good but not be that expensive?
i drive on snow occasionally like yourself...new jersey. last year, we got tons of snow. more than usual. rode on the OEM's and slid on 1" of snow. mainly because of temperature, the potenzas are like hockey pucks and don't stick for sh*t. i couldn't believe it myself. thought all i needed was quattro...but now i know better.
Here's a picture of them with Pirelli 210 Winter Assimetricos....a great winter tire.

They are decent but not great when the snow gets deeper as the tread is not very aggressive. Its a matter of what type of conditions you expect. It's no BS that these tires perform as well or better than studded snows on ice. I used to have studs.
