Installing salvaged Nav in TTR

I'm thinking of installing an Audi navigation system in to my TTR from a salvaged Audi. Has anyone ever tried this and or what models (A4 / S4 / TT) would be reusable?

Not sure, but a dealer here in Palo Alto told me that the Audi OEM nav can only be installed

at the factory while the car is being built. Installing it after that is not possible. Not sure if this is true, but it sounds difficult enough for me not to try.

I suppose if you can handle major disassembly it could be done... probably would take some doing!

posted a list of all the part numbers you'd need as well as what labour needs to be done.

I looked into it and found out...

It seemed to me that it was not impossible but not very likely. The main problem that came into play was the lack of information. The dealer seemed to think that the display (inbetween the two gauges) was different on the NAV TT's then the ones that did not have the NAV installed. Without the 2001 service manuals (I have a TTR) it was pretty much impossible for me to find out. I went with a good aftermarket brand (VDO) and it has worked out great!
