AoA wasting a bulb???

While I was digging around my headlights (See prev post), I noticed a bulb housing with no wires attached. Its an extra bulb that would be used to light the long, skinny turn indicator within the headlight assembly. The housing actually contains a bulb too, completely unused.

Weird how Audi would just leave it in there. Is it used for European spec cars?

I wonder if they left the housing there just to complete the water-seal? But if so, why not just insert the housing sans the bulb?

Oh well, just thought it was odd. =) back to work...

OK I'm confused. My long skinny turn indicator lights up at night with the headlights on.

I can see it now. New, from (nameless fictional aftermarket parts retailer)...

European turn signal dual bulb conversion kit. Only $550! ;-)
