you need to get a cheesy rental car or a beater...

If you can hold out for about a year.......rumour has it that this baby (or some form thereof) will be hitting our shores.

I thought they were still deciding about the 25 and I was hoping it could be sooner...

I mean, I have until the end of June 2002.

microbus for family + TT for self + GTI for all around = best pkg!

waiting to get a microbus...forget all the other minivans. its a good thing cars like the 25th anniv GTI is every 25 years! otherwise, you'll need more garage space!

Here's the latest information - it IS coming and will be called something other than the 25th

Anniversary model when it comes out in spring 2002. It will be just like you see in the pics - however, the gauge cluster will not have the aluminum rings (not worth making a US spec cluster for only 2500 cars), won't have rear armrest - will have 3 headrests and a shoulder belt instead, wont' have the black out headlights (still a maybe but not likely since those have glass lenses and again limited production) and it won't have the all black headliner. It will be available in red, silver and black metallic.

It will have everything else from the 25th anniversary, including the TT brakes, 20mm lower sports suspension from the SEAT Cupra, real Recaro seats as shown, real BBS RC 18" wheels and a list of other items.

Also - there will be a 20th Anniversary GTI available in the US as a 2003 model and it will have the black headlights and aluminum trim rings around the gauge cluster. Right now it appears that it will also be available in two special colors - imola yellow and jazz blue (think Nogaro blue).
