My Car Got Hit!!!!
I was eating at a restaurant in Dallas tonight when one of the waiters asked me if I owned the Audi TT parked outside. I immediately got scared. The first words out of his mouth were, "Its not that bad." My heart sunk
Someone had backed up into the rear bumper of my car. It is not dented, but it is scraped up. The offender did not even stop, he just took off. The waiter got the guy's license plate, a description of the driver, color of the car, but no make or model.
After I thanked the waiter and calmed down a bit, I went back inside to finish my meal. About 10 minutes later, I saw a cop drive by. I ran outside and flagged him down. He surveyed the damage and filled out a report. He ran the plate, and the car came up registered out of Tyler (about 1 hour south east of Dallas).
I don't know what is going to happen next. I don't even really care about how much it cost to be fixed. I am just pissed off because the a**hole just took off! The waiter said the driver looked around to see if anyone saw him, then sped off. Idiots like that **** me off.
I hit a parked car once in a parking lot. I left a note on the car. I guess everyone is not the same.
I am going to head to the gym and take my anger out on some weights now. Argghhhh!

At least it is just scratches and nothing dented or broken.

Sounds like about $700 - $800 in damage if the scratches can be sanded out...
I recently got a quote on what it would take to fix some scratches in my bumper, and it was around $500 to remove, sand, repaint, re-clear coat and reinstall.
Since your damage sounds a bit more significant, that's where I came up with the $700-$800 figure...
