OT: One of a kind Porsche Twin Turbo - over the top with electronic upgrades
<center><img src="http://images.fotki.com/photos/1/10517/75235/DSCN0455-or.jpg"></center><p>Last week I ventured to Paris Audio in Los Angeles to review some possibilities for an upgrade for my TT. The shop has a 5 listeing stations - a Boxster, and 4 Porsches of various types.
In the work area though, they had a Ferrari 360 Modena and two Twin Turbo Porsches. The Blue one in the pic I have placed is a one of a kind Bugatti (sp?) Blue Twin wherein the owner will install some $45K of electronic add-ons including DVD, 14 speakers, NAV, and whatever else they can think of... I think it is a bit overdone.
Gotta love the unabashed ability to take the extreme to the EXTREME though.
BTW, this shop will not touch my stereo unless I will committ to at least $4800 in labor/hardware. I'll be going elsewhere.

Hmmm maybe I should get back into Stereo mods
Did some work for a company in the UK who used to make custom moulds (MDF) etc etc and all the wires. Pretty interesting stuff when you get into it, and of course, potential money maker too

Yea, the box they would build...
would be awesome, but would be $1500 including labor and parts - just for the sub box. They would use JL audio 5 inch subs (4 of them) which are unbelievably efficient but require lots of power. The box would take 3 inches of my entire trunk floor as well as slope to the rear to the sill height wherein the subs would go. The 3 inches on the bottom would enclose a 800 watt 6 ch. bridgeable amp (don't recall the brand name but do remember the price - $800 bucks) and an EQ.
The rear speakers would be mid-range quality and 6 inches and the fronts would be JL audio 8 inch extremely clear speakers with tweeter separates.
They, like you didn't like the idea of adding great speakers in the rear section as they really are just "fill" anyway. When complete, the car is "tuned" to spec's by a guy that does car audio tuning FT based upon customer input and some hi-tech voodoo-like gimmickry.
Anyway, I can't afford their labor - as it is probably the highest priced shop in So. Cal. They do incredible box work and enclose everything in fiberglass as well as building everything from scratch. They wanted the car for 7 days too.
So,. like I said, the hunt is on for another shop in So. Cal. Maybe I can find one a bit closer to home. This one is 55 miles from my house. Anyone have any ideas?
