Default Rob Knob2 - not real impressive...

As a replacement for the stock ****, this thing is kind of lame. The **** screws down right on top of the stock aluminum trim sleeve, mashing the two together and causing them to bind up. Now when I shift into reverse the whole stick twists in my hand and the stock rubber boot gets distorted out of shape (on normal up-shifts as well). The stock **** does not ride on the trim sleeve and has a loose nylon washer that slips inside the sleeve and allows the boot and trim sleeve to rotate around the stick. Maybe this thing works better with the shift kit they sell, but I would recommend a pass as a replacement ****.

Default I noticed that problem at first but than

I tightened it to the max and it eliminated that problem.

Default tried tight and loose but no luck, now...

I am going to try and get some nylon sleeves and washers from the hardware store and see if I can rig something up. The **** still looks nice, but unless I can free this thing up a bit, it will have to go back.

Default Or just get a leather boot kit... That's what I ended up doing.

I just cut the aluminum sleeve in half and left the rubber bellows in place under the boot for sound proofing.

Default So far, I have completely eliminated the problem by screwing it on very tight. Maybe you

should call UUC and see if this is a normal occurrence.

Default Nylon washers did not work, so I put the BIG TIME crank-down on it...

I don't like jamming parts down this hard, but the twist did stop. Getting into reverse isn't as fluid as it was before, so a new boot might be in order, but I am sort of partial to the stock setup. Oh well, I am sure I will adjust...

Default Mine showed up today with the wrong 5 speed shift pattern, but UUC says...

they will send the right one out today. Looks sort of funny with that hole in the top right now, hehe. The guy I talked with on the phone was very polite and apologetic, so now all I have to do is wait >8^{. Had to tighten the living daylights out of mine in order to get that reverse twist bit from happening as well.
