Re: Oil Change suggestions
Ref my earlier post last week about HBL. I had done a search myself on first oil changes for the 225, and was ready for a goober of a job. At 5K miles, I wanted the break-in oil out and Royal Purple in. I've done all the changes on the 56 cars trucks and motorcycles I've had, so threw her up on the Rhino ramps and proceded to spend 2 hours trying to get the damned oil filter loose. Knowing that others had had problems, I did not drain the oil first, as I wanted to see if the filter would loosen. A good cup filter wrench rounded the end of the filter right off. A band-type wrench that you use with an extension and ratchet rounded right off where the extension goes through the two steel pieces forming the square. That's how much force I was using, and the thing still wouldn't budge. Ended up taking it, my new filter and oil to the dealer and they changed it for free. So, if it's your first oil change, be prepared for some major angst.
PS- to all of you who said that the old filter could be removed from the top on a 225, I see absolutely no way in the world this can be done with the fans and hoses and all in the way. Could not even find enough space to get my hand down to the filter from the top on my 2002 model. If I'm missing something,...?
