TT design elements in NY International Auto Show Concepts
Again, the Audi TT has set inspiration to auto designers around the world. The current concept /production vehicle to show Audi influence is the new Honda Element. The now famous, and much copied, round aluminum air flow register is found in this otherwise interesting and highly creative design. It actually looks appropriate in this environment versus this design element's presence in the 2003 Ford Expedition.
Another concept that had Audi design influence is the new Infiniti G35 Coupe; actually it appears to be a copy of the Lexus SC430, which is a copy of the TT. Ford is showning a drawning of a future product that exhibits A6 influences.
Overall, the Japanese have several cross-over concepts, including the aforementioned Honda Element, that show inventiveness and solid design attributes without being derivative of other makers' successfull designs.
In closing, Audi/Volkswagen need to be concerned as attrition and defection affects the design groups.
