Aftermarket Diverter Valve causes "Check Engine"
To make a long story short, my water pump died, and I had my TT towed to get fixed. They fixed it but had trouble installing the new timing belt (they said it was off by a notch at first). Afterwards, the car ran fine, but the check engine light would come on and my VAG tool said something about an inconsistent timing error or something (I don't remember the exact one). I cleared it, but it came back.
I took my TT to the dealer and they said it was
a "aftermarket diverter valve installed" error. I'd never seen that before and I had the bailey DV for 2+ years. What is going on? They charged me $35 for the half an hour of labor to look at it.
