Brought my car to the dealer for service and to check y 1st and 2nd grind and...>

It turns out I am having some gear and synchro issues severe enough that they want to replace the trans!? Car drives the way it is just grinds when cold. Any1 find this a bit off or no!!??

Its a known issue. I had my synchros replaced twice and

then my trans done once. Then I got the Dealership to buy the car back from me.

I don't know much about this, but I'd rather have a new tranny than a "fixed" one.

Mine is very similar -- really doesn't want to go in

1st when it's cold -- 2nd isn't much better. Hmmm, maybe I'll take off the DG, and let the dealer have a look.

I thought the 180 FWD had this problem?

I consider it pretty normal...

1st and 2nd gear are tough until the trans oil gets warmed up enough (in other words after 15 minutes of insane driving)and the gears get as smooth as possible...

I know this shouldn't be considered normal but I think the TT's gearbox was never smooth at all and appears to be the only flaw in our cars. But you can get to live with it
