Default Trade In Value - Any dealers out there? Help!

I have a 2000 180 Quattro. It's silver with flawless black interior with 33k miles and still 1 year left on the CPO. All service is up to date with receipts. It also has new tires and brakes. I live in the Seattle, WA area. I hate to sell my TT but we just bought a cabin and a Tundra is better suited for our current needs. I went to five different dealers and they all quote me an "auction" price for my trade-in which is far below what NADA, KBB and Edmunds claim to be the trade-in value. What's going on and what is my car really worth as a trade? Any car brokers or dealers out there willing to give me an honest answer?

I was the lucky purchaser of a car similar to yours...
one owner, 26k miles 2000 1.8TT Quattro with all options.
The previous owner took it to the dealer and was quoted 14.5k. He was very frustrated, and placed it on Cars.com for 17k. I offered him 16k cash and he accepted.
I think the moral of the story is sell it outright...i'm sure you'll be able to get 18k for it, which is probably 3k more than they offered you.

Default Sadly your car is going to goto auction being that its a 2000

I traded my 2000 in last June of 2003 and I got 21,000 for it. But I suppose you will get no more than 16k for it. :-(

Default sell it yourself....

no dealer can possibly give you what it's worth or they can't make any money themselves.

Although obvious, that's really an excellent point. I'm not a dealer. I've had some bad experiences and some good ones with dealers. But I do have to agree with you. He has to make money. Why else would he be in business. That doesn't mean he has to be unethical. He also has the best position(hand) in any deal, he knows what he paid for the car.

Good luck with the sale. $18,000 wouldn't be bad. I just paid $22k for a 2002 TTQ w/13,000 miles. I thought I did ok. If I had shopped a little more I may have gotten it down to 20k.

Default I am having the same problem with selling my TT.

I took it to CarMax and they would only give me $19,800 for it in November so I am trying to sell it myself.
