Default Haldex...HELP!!!

I'm in the process of changing the fluid in the haldex right now. I've drained the oil from the bottom hole and removed the filter...but I'm unsure as to whether there is a second drain hole. Also...is the new oil just squired up into the bottom hole? I really appreciate the help guys. Thanks!

Default Text from Link???

Thanks for the help guys...I was actually using the same instructiosn from Jeff's site. However this is the text that got me (Its below the 4th and 5th pictures)

"Some oil came out the top when he removed the top plug. Another drain hole is here, about 3/8" dia. drain plug, that is on abt. a 2" stud.

Here he is fitting the top plug back in place."

Are they talking about the filter? Thanks again

Default Just so I'm certain Jeff..

When you said "drain hole is here, about 3/8" dia. drain plug, that is on abt. a 2" stud" you're talking about the filter right? Thanks

no, the "filter" is in the top plug, but I think there is a filter on the drain plug also.

Default No filter on drain plug, there's an inspection plug opp. of filter.

Slightly larger Allen wrench than drain plug. You can fill there too, but warm oil first. You need to remove inspection plug after running Haldex to verify proper oil level (I'm sure this step has never been done by any Audi mechanic, procedure if not correct is to drain and try again).

Default Here's how it goes..

First remove the bottom drain plug and drain the oil. Then uses the special wrench to remove and replace the filter (put the filter back before filling).

Now remove the inspection plug (when under the car facing to the rear, it's on the right side of the drain plug but higher and toward the rear)
You need to remove this plug otherwise you cannot squirt the oil in (the air in the unit has to go somewhere ;-)

Now go to home depot and get a $2 chalk gun, this fits the cartridge perfectly and it's beats Audi's $45 chalk gun ;-)

Now you just squirt the oil in from the bottom until it seeps out of the inspection hole, you will NOT need the whole cartridge. Put the plugs back on (this is easier with two people, since some oil will run out when you replace the drain plug, but if you do it quick, it's no problem)

If you do *not* have enough room under the car the put the chalk gun completely vertically, you'll need to make some hose construction with vaccuum couplings to fill properly (that's how we did it, and we've done this twice now)
