Default Positive dealership experience?

Yes I can actually say I had one. Actually two positive experiences. I was visiting my Parents in MI (I am from Northern VA) and on the way to MI last Tuesday the check engine light came on again after already being at the dealership that morning to have it turned off.

So I get to my parents look up the closest dealer which was Fred Lavery Audi in Birmingham, MI. The service dept was open until "midnight". I kinda knew what the problem was cuz I was just at the dealer in the morning. I was right is was the gas cap. I had lost it the other day and then found it but it wasn't keeping pressure so it made the check engine light come on. The dealer dummies in the morning didnt bother to pressure test the cap and just tightened it and cleared the light, so it came on again on my way to MI.

At the dealer I was going to have to wait a while since there was only one Audi tech but since my issue was small the service guy got the tech, Mike, to stop what he was doing and work on my car. It needed a new gas cap. All was good and I went on my way...until....

Wednesday my car wasn't running up to par seemed sluggish. On my way home from my brothers the damn check engine light comes on again...arghhhhh!

So Thursday morning I make an appointment at Fred Lavery for 6:00pm. I get there and they all remember me and my Boston Terrier puppy from Tuesday. Again they hook me up. The same service writer Lorne Leon gets the tech, Mike (same guy), to look at my car cuz there is only on tech at night and they know I am on vacation. Mike stops working on what he was doing to check my car. Well people it was the damn MAF sensor. But here is what really got me. They did have a new one on the shelf...but...I can't have it cuz they don't put the new $400 ones in under warranty, only the $80 Audi remanufactured ones go in which they have to order. Well the tech and service writer are going toe to toe with the parts guy about it. I said what 800 number do I call to take care of this. Lorne says hold on, "I'll take care of this", so I walk away and chat with the sales guys who are all terrier people which is bonus for me. A bit later I go to return to the service area and low and behold Lorne says it's all taken care of by the Service manager. He told me he called his rep and said I am giving this guy the new part I hope you back me up.

I shake hands with everyone and am highly pleased with the service I received, I was there less than an hour.
So if you are in MI and need service and can get to Fred Lavery Audi in Birmingham, do it. I give them the big thumbs up.

1st I've heard 'bout new vs. remanufactured MAF's. Hard 2 believe Audi would use reman'd parts.

Default Positive? well, its still a waste of your time. I bought a spare MAF >>

VW part and swapped it. yeah, it cost me $59, but less aggravation than taking to the dealer and getting the runaround and BS. After I swapped out the VW MAF, haven't had a CEL yet, but its a wait and see (only swapped it out last week)...and BTW, I use my treo600 with ProDiag to clear my CEL.
