Hopeful TT owner
I'm looking at a 2001 Audi TT FWD with 59k miles on it. It's manual, black on black. Here's what it contains:
Air Conditioning; Bose Sound System; Center Arm Rest; Coolant Temp. Gauge; Courtesy Lights; Digital Clock; Digital Instruments; Leather Steering Wheel; Leather Upholstery; Power Door Locks; Power Mirrors; Power Steering; Power Windows; Rear Defroster; Tilt Steering Column; Trip Odometer; Wood Trim; Exterior Alloy Wheels; Inline Style Engine; 4 Air Bags
I'm waiting for thhe VIN # from the owner; this is a private party sale. He wants $6,200 for it. As a high school student, it would be used as a commuter car once i start college. The insurance on it would be fairly low. I wanted to know what other things i should look out for (ie. recalls, bad production years, expensive repairs?) Any information would be appreciated. Do you guys think the price/mileage is legit or is there something wrong with the car? How much would I have to spend yearly to maintain it? Is it fairly reliable? Thanks for your help!!

Something wrong with the price... if the car checks out and you can get it for that.. GRAB IT.
With those miles find out if the timing belt has been replaced, if not be prepared to do so... Ask him if he as maintenance records and, if so, read through them carefully.... Our cars seem to age fairly well... some of the early years had some probs, but once thru those they are keepers.
